Losing weight and getting lean is simple. There, I said it! It might not be easy but it’s simple. It’s when you’ve lost the weight things get hard!
You see anyone can lose weight. But what happens when you hit that goal weight?
You see we haven’t got a weight loss problem, we have a weight maintenance problem.
So, what you need to really be asking yourselves is:
“What am I going to do when I hit my target?”
What will provide you with the motivation to kick on again or maintain what you’ve worked hard to achieve? What happens when the compliments stop? Or what happens when you don’t win the competition? Or if you can’t even get started, you need to ask yourself why?
Why am I doing this? Is it because: I want to feel good I want to look good on holiday or I want to be able to play and run with my children? I want to feel healthy strong and confident?
If you don’t know your “why” then don’t even bother starting. Harsh right? Not really. I’m saving you the hassle, the hard work of reaching a target weight, and then the disappointment caused when you gain it all and more in the future.
You see what most people don’t understand or grasp is that once you have achieved your goal, you must continue to do what you have been doing. Your body doesn’t just magically think: “Right, I’m at this awesome weight now, thank you, I’m going to just stay like this for you.” Nope. Sorry folks. You have to continue doing what you were doing to get there in the first place.
“The goal may change, but the work ethic shouldn’t.”
So don’t look for fads, for gimmicks or look for the magic pill or coffee bean, instead, shift your mindset and focus on stuff that actually works and makes you enjoy the process rather than leaving you miserable. If you don’t like it, you won’t stick to it. Losing weight should just be the beginning.
